This search technology content is part of the Solr-Lucene Microzone, supported by Lucid Imagination, a company of Solr/Lucene all-stars that provides free distributions, training, and a search application development platform called LucidWorks Enterprise.
This talk on using Hadoop and Solr together for a NoSQL-like result was given by Ken Krugler, a friend of DZone who wrote the amazingly popular article, Solr + Hadoop = Big Data Love.  The talk was given at a local Hadoop User Group (HUG) meeting.  Ken works at Bixo Labs a heavy open source-using company that utilizes Hadoop, Solr, Cascading, Mahout, and many other projects. They build custom data processing workflows and develop Bixo open source web crawling project.  Make some time to watch this one!

Pick up some example code for Hadoop and Solr via GitHub, at http://github.com/bixolabs/hadoop2solr.
