In this interview, Jesse Davis gives us an update on what's happening at the JDBC expert group in the JCP. Right now they're preparing for a maintenance release which will fix the longstanding timestamp problem. Davis also discusses the new challenges in JDBC usage patterns like application deployment and architecture, and he suggests how these can be improved.

Jesse Davis is a Director of Development at Progress DataDirect. He is currently responsible for the Connect and Shadow z/Direct product lines, as senior engineering manager. Jesse has led development efforts for a number of DataDirect Connect products, and has developed core modules for the Connect for ODBC and Connect for JDBC product groups.
