Microhoo? or Yacrosoft! What will it be?

Disclaimer: I have great respect for both Microsoft and Yahoo! and merely wish to provide humorous editorial banter.

With the wording of Microsoft's letter to Yahoo seeming all but imminent, but the phrasing clearly being that of a merger:

I am writing on behalf of the Board of Directors of Microsoft to make a proposal for a business combination of Microsoft and Yahoo!

The real question now becomes "What will the new company call itself?" I am thinking it will be either Microhoo? or Yacrosoft! Given the fact that both name combinations use parts of both companies' names -- if you say either of them fast enough, you might figure out the company's business strategy behind the name!

In all seriousness though, what do you see as happening to Yahoo's services, assets, and employees? Right now it's anyone's guess, and I would be interested to hear your thougts and opinions.

I wouldn't like to be in their shoes as Microsoft may want to favor their software over all other providers.

However the problem of gaining ground over Google may be sufficiently daunting for realism to set in. So maybe they'll allow Yahoo to create cross-browser/OS software.

To some extent the new company's problem will be to reverse the downward trend and start growing. So if I were Microsoft, I would try and create a software dynamic like Google's to attract developers and get people to create plugins into their products.

Why is this in the Java Zone?

I wonder what'll happen to http://developer.yahoo.com/java/

Should we back it up just in case, or will Google keep a copy in their cache for us?

Actually, now that I just skimmed it, am I missing something, or is there kind of nothing interesting there...
(ps. there literally nothing on Linux)

Is it really just branding, marketing, advertising, they're after?  Are they sure they want to spend 44 bil on this?  There has to be some other possible competing propspect bids for it to be *that* high?   I know it's all just stock cash, and not really liquid cash, but still.

I've never disliked Yahoo and I'd be sorry to see them assimilated by the Borg, but I've also never felt Yahoo reaching out to me, so it doesn't really matter perhaps

I'm begon weening myself off of Yahoo email already... Like I'm going to be using Hotmail... as if.  Lost any emails lately? grin.

I kinda liked yahoo mail, but o well.
