JavaFX Coding Competition - A Worthy Challenge
Now this sounds like a competition that will get people going on JavaFX! Starting next Monday, March 23, you've the chance to win $25,000 for developing an innovative rich media application using JavaFX. Second and third placed applications will will each win 10,000 and 5,000 respectively.
I'm really happy to see this contest happen - it should increase the interest in JavaFX, which is no bad thing. After all, money is a great driver for creativity! I hope we see some original, inventive applications that really showcase the capabilities of JavaFX. The previous Google Android Coding Challenge showed us some pretty nice applications on mobile phones - at least with JavaFX there's the chance to develop applications for the desktop as well as for mobile devices.
It seems like there's lots of time to get your application cleaned up, and even to learn JavaFX - the deadline for entries is May 29. There's also an additional category for student applications.
So, is this contest enough to get people who are not so enthusiastic about JavaFX less cynical?
