GroundWork Open Source (GWOS) has finished hammering out its 6.2 release of its enterprise network monitoring and management software. Today, their flagship product, the GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.2 is available. The new capabilities of this release include a new Java monitoring agent, improved VMware ESX and vCenter monitoring, and new dashboard customization options.
GroundWork Monitor builds additional features onto the Nagios event engine. The management tools take a service centric approach and provide visualization features (UI is based on JBoss Portal) to spot patterns. Complete monitoring coverage is provided with network topology discovery and auto-configuration. Other features include bi-directional integration with other system controls, roll-up approach, and a dashboard and reporting engine. GWOS has recently been expanding in several directions. In this year alone, the open source company has grown
its customer base by 105%. They've recently released
CentOS and SUSE-powered quickstart virtual appliances. They also started providing
cloud connectors that enable monitoring for open source private clouds based on Eucalyptus or Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud.
