The DevOps Zone is presented by DZone with partners including ThoughtWorks Studios and UrbanCode to bring you the most interesting and relevant content on the DevOps movement.  See today's top DevOps content and be sure to check out ThoughtWorks Studio's Continuous Delivery Whitepapers and UrbanCode's Webinars.
Some stats reported by Dice.com (mainly IT jobs) and Indeed.com show that the April to June timespan from this year had 3x as many postings about Puppet skills requirements and over double the postings for Hadoop skills.  Although the Indeed.com fastest growing skills list included the following...

  • HTML5
  • iOS
  • Android
  • Mobile app
  • Puppet
  • Hadoop
  • jQuery
  • PaaS
  • Social Media
  • Sharepoint

the Dice.com stats found that Java developer demand is also rising.

The WSJ also notes that Dice.com, which focuses exclusively on IT jobs, saw strong growth in recruiters searching for workers with Java skills. Earlier this year Dennis B. Moore analyzed Dice’s listings and found that Java is extremely popular. Growth in Android and Hadoop should reinforce that.

Although Indeed and Dice surely aren't the authority on all IT jobs out there, it certainly is an result that supports the claim that more companies are looking for "Big Data people" and "DevOps people".
