Last month I was privileged to present a webinar hosted by the ITMPI on the topic of managing technical debt.  The presentation discussed the technical debt metaphor from its inception in 1992 when Ward Cunningham coined it to where it is today.  In addition to disecting the metaphor’s evolution, we discussed opportunities and challenges the concept brings to the table as well as a case study of Foursquare’s real life encounter with technical debt.  The abridged version of the presentation is embeded below.

The topics are covered in the order below:

  1.
    1. Introduction
    2. What is technical debt?
    3. Opportunities and challenges
    4. Business impacts
    5. Foursquare case study
    6. Managing the lifecycle

Please share any feedback you may have in the comments section of the blog get the dialog going.  I look forward to hearing from you.
