Facebook and the Open Source Big Data Community

You know, Facebook is more than just a rapidly growing collection of memorials! In honor of Facebook's 10th anniversary, HadoopSphere pointed to Facebook's influence on the open source Big Data community by assembling a list of major contributions, as well as an infographic to show it all off.

For example, it may not be widely known that Cassandra, Hive, and HBase, just to name a few, all started out with exclusive or heavy development from Facebook, and more recently, Facebook open-sourced Presto, a SQL on Hadoop engine. In other words, there have been some significant contributions. Check out HadoopSphere's infographic:
