I think I've found one of the best, most straightforward introductions yet to Beanstalkd, an under-appreciated member of the message queue community.

Dave Kennedy's post is a great beginner level look at the reasoning behind using message queues in the first place.  He's coming from the perspective of the Ruby community, but Beanstakd is not just for Ruby.

The article is bookmarkable in my opinion because it's like a good movie trailer for Beanstalkd.  It will give you just a taste of the message queue and help you quickly decide whether you want to download it and dive into some deeper introductions.
