View Microsoft Project files for free with the RationalPlan Project Viewer

Stand By Soft has released a new version 3.4.0 for their RationalPlan project management software suite.

In the news:

• Added the possibility to import projects from Microsoft Project
• Added the possibility to create work driven tasks (keep the amount of work on a task) besides the duration driven tasks
• Allow users to set a deadline date for tasks
• Created an online tutorial for the application
• Added details for projects in Project Portfolio View (for Multi Project version)
• Bug fixes

The MSProject import capability is included in all products including RationalPlan Project Viewer. And since the Project Viewer is distributed as freeware then anyone can view for free MSProject files with it. Still the import feature is not fully compatible with MSProject. Certain features like split tasks and requiring tasks are not available for RationalPlan products.
