Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, October 28, 2008  — Polarion Software, creators of fully integrated application lifecycle management solutions and services, today announced the launch of an access control management tool for seamlessly integrating Subversion access and existing LDAP user management implementations.

"Today, we are seeing more and more companies select Subversion for their production repositories", said Stefano Rizzo, Vice President of Product Management for Polarion Software.  "Production usage requires existence of a set of support tools, which can handle typical use cases. At the current moment there is a lack of tools, which can help Subversion administrators to handle these tasks. As the result many administrators make users and permissions management by manual editing of specific files. This task becomes very complicated in large companies, which have thousands of Subversion users, because it’s pretty hard to edit large access files manually."

As more and more large enterprises move to adopt Subversion, managing permissions and users becomes a tedious and expensive task. Organizations that already have information in LDAP about users/groups and want to use the same information to manage rights in SVN need to replicate this information manually in the SVN access file. It’s a huge undertaking. Using AccessSVN you are able to replicate automatically, because AccessSVN can extract information from LDAP, and you just define permissions for existing users/groups, you don’t need to manually manage the users and groups themselves. You can work from a browser-based UI instead of manually editing the access file. It prevents administrators from making mistakes with the access file format, which usually entirely blocks access to SVN.  The AccessSVN UI has been optimized for working with large amounts of data, so you are able to quickly find users, groups or resources.

"It's been a tedious task trying to manage everything manually for my clients.  AccessSVN really takes our Subversion experience up to an enterprise level. Finally a tool that lets you efficiently manage permissions for large numbers of users. Polarion really hits it out of the park with this one!" said, Dino D'Ambrosio, Subversion Consultant, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Polarion AccessSVN is available in license packs of 10, 25, 250 and 2500 users.
