NetBeans team is throwing a party at EclipseCon!

Subheadline:
Join the NetBeans party at EclipseCon on Tuesday March 18 - free food, beer, lots of demos and you can win a 24-inch LCD

If you are coming to EclipseCon, NetBeans evangelism team would like to invite you to a NetBeans party on Tuesday, March 18 - the second day of EclipseCon. The party starts at 6:30 PM. We'll have free food and beer, we'll show demos of latest and coolest features, and you can enter a drawing to win a prize - a 24-inch Sun LCD monitor (you need to show your EclipseCon badge to qualify). Don't expect anything formal, it's just an informal gathering with food, drinks, and NetBeans evangelists who will show cool demos and will happily answer any questions you might have.

It is really easy to get to the NetBeans Party from EclipseCon. The convention center is connected to the Hyatt hotel. Just walk through the hotel, past the lobby to the far end and go out those doors. The Tech Mart building is right cross the driveway. It is maybe a five minute walk. To make it even easier for developers to get to the party we will have a trolley which will get you there (the ride will probably take like 30 seconds :) Here's the map:

I can't be wrong saying that everyone already seen NetBeans so many times, that it is practically boring. Besides, there is no point to leave EclipseCon just to get free food, because IBM Jazz reception will be happening at the same time. I don't work on Jazz, but in my opinion those guys can show you much cooler things then anything NetBeans can came up with. Perhaps guys from that NetBeans party should stop by and see that with their own eyes. :-) http://www.eclipsecon.org/2008/index.php?page=sub/&id=605

NetBeans & boring? Impossible :) Did you check out e.g. the new JavaScript editor in 6.1?

Roman, if you ask me, I almost can't think of the more boring thing then javascript editor...

I think it's a little unfair that the NetBeans horde are the only ones throwing the cool parties.  I mean, come on!  Who's vandalizing the NetBeans booth?  Where are the Eclipse girls?

It seems the only real fun Eclipsers get to have is quietly poking fun at NetBeans and drinking heavily at BoF outings.

It is called netbeans attitude, which Ed Burn praised and which I like very much, sincere, earnest, innovative, and always ready to compete. This reminds me of Gandhi's quote:

First they ignore you,
then they laugh at you,
then they attack you,
then you win.

This quote was frequently cited by early eclipse adopters to fight against another mainstream product. Now the history is repeating itself.

Chen, you do realize we are talking about IDEs here, right? It's just technology, not trends or... countries. The tool who fits better for the job will be used - and that's about it.

As for the post, is almost as lame as Chen's reply.

BTW, that's Burnette not Burn :)

Hi Ed, sorry for the mis-spelling. It is a good article with objective opinions.

Yes, I do. I simply feel it unfair that many people misunderstand and underestimate netbeans, without even giving it a try. I am not talking about countries, I am talking about technology and trends. I agree with you that tools that fit better should be used for the job. But I am replying to those who were and are mocking at netbeans. That's all about it.

As for the post, it is as excellent as my reply. Didn't you learn how to respect others?

Hi Roman,

Perhaps your party was organized too late to seek out help this year, but if you plan a party next year, please feel free to work with me to help promote it.  I could have helped you organize a room drop, flyer drops or other sponsored promotions, I could have helped in a lot of ways.
