Is NetBeans IDE 6.1 Ready to be Released..?

  • submit to reddit

NetBeans IDE 6.1 Release Candidate 1 was published, yesterday! Perfect timing for holding the final Community Acceptance Survey. The purpose of this survey is to establish whether the NetBeans community and beyond deems NetBeans IDE 6.1 RC1 ready for being officially released (FCS) or not.

We have organized Community Acceptance surveys since the days of NetBeans 3.6. We've found it a very good way of receiving objective feedback on the quality of the IDE. Here are statistics showing that NetBeans Community Acceptance surveys are increasing in popularity per release:

Above, you see the release version, the number of respondents, the number of questions, and the number of respondents who held that NetBeans IDE was not ready to be released.

For NetBeans IDE 6.1, we are asking everyone who has used RC1 and has developed a solid opinion about it, to log in to www.netbeans.org and take the short survey. Here's a taste of what you can expect:

Go here to download NetBeans IDE 6.1 RC 1 and to read all about what the release has in store for you:

The survey will be available until midnight on Wednesday the 16th of April (i.e., next week). Let's hope we will have at least 150 respondents this time. :-) Looking forward to your feedback!

Still no support for Perforce. I suppose moving from 6.0 to 7.0 will also involve making old plugins/components incompatible. In IDEA all my plugins work from upgrade to upgrade (4->5->6->7), though it does flash annoying error messages all the time when plugins throw exceptions.
