Joget Workflow

Joget Workflow v1.1.2 has just been released, and is available for free download!

Joget Workflow is an open source workflow management system, architectured to:

  • automate and manage people-driven processes (XPDL)
  • allow non-IT users to create and deploy an executable workflow
  • achieve expandability with plug-in oriented (OSGi JAR) architecture
  • allow integration from other applications using Joget’s JSON APIs

Completely web-based and powered by J2EE technologies (using Spring Framework), Joget Workflow does not require any client components to be installed (apart from JRE). Process diagrams can be intuitively drawn and designed using Workflow Designer (loaded and started using Java Web Start technology), while data can be captured using forms created by Joget Form Builder without requiring mandatory knowledge of HTML.

The standard installation of Joget Workflow is also bundled with some useful and powerful plug-ins, such as BeanShell Plugin, Email Plugin, Form Data ETL Plugin, JSON Plugin, Reference ID Plugin, Report Plugin and User Notification Plugin.

Hosted at SourceForge, the executable installer is available for Windows® users, while a tarball bundle is available for the Linux platform. A ready-to-run VMware® Appliance packaged with Joget Workflow is also available for your convenience. Get any of these options from our download site.

If you are keen to explore integration opportunities using Joget Workflow, feel free to have a look at the developer reference document (PDF).

As an open source believer, Joget Workflow incorporates a multitude of open source and open standard technologies. Although running on MySQL database as the primary default, Joget Workflow is technically database independent as the persistence layer is built on Hibernate. Joget Workflow is also tested on Apache Tomcat and GlassFish. Also worth mentioning is that the project development model of Joget Workflow is embraced with Maven to improve dependency and build lifecycle management.

Since the first public release of Joget Workflow 1.0.0 in October 2009, we have now engaged with 3 partners (TMS in Malaysia, SSC Solutions in Thailand and The Malaysian Institute of Management) to provide training and technology implementation services based on Joget Workflow in Southeast Asia.

Taking Joget Workflow global, we will also be participating in MSE 2010 (Dubai), EnterpriseIT 2010 (Singapore) and O'Reilly OSCON 2010 (Oregon, USA) to share the opportunities made possible by the open source workflow technology that is designed with simplicity in mind.
